Where is space to express grief over our devastation of the biological systems that sustain us?

Flight was a guerrilla outdoor installation under a freeway bridge in Asheville NC, featuring giant paper cutouts of 20 endangered and persecuted species of the Southeastern U.S. Each cutout depicts the live version of the animal on one side, the skeletal version on the other. The piece was made entirely from found wood, paper, cordage and detritus from the Asheville area and was eventually destroyed by wind, weather and human interference after six weeks of display. Created in collaboration with Beatriz Carmen Mendoza and a number of willing hands. Thanks to Sean Pace for lending the crane.
